Media Statement ZWELITSHA – In a Crime Intelligence driven operation with the assistance of members attached to Gqeberha Flying Squad, K9 Unit, Public Order Policing and Kabega Visible Policing led to the arrest of a suspect (40) for possession of drugs on Sunday 11 August 2024. Members operationalized on information shared by Nelson Mandela Bay Crime Intelligence about a large amount of drugs that are kept and sold in a house at Masson Street, Kabega Park. They quickly applied for a search warrant, and it was authorised and proceeded to the mentioned house. On arrival, they were granted permission to enter, and upon searching, they found drugs, cannabis, and cannabis products. On investigation police recovered the following items: Cannabis 19 kg Shrooms (605 grams) MDMA (63 grams) CBD Tablets (42 tablets) DAB (13 envelopes) Hash (5 balls) CBD oil (2 bottles Vapes CBD (33 vapes) Oil syringes (17 syringes) Chocolate edibles (31 units) Dagga zolls (330 zolls) All these items are estimated to be the street value of R 550 000.00. Police also recovered his own licensed firearm, 9mm Taurus and magazine with ammunition, and two cellphones and were seized for further investigation. According to the information, it is believed that the suspect is the supplier around Gqeberha however police investigation is continuing. The suspect appeared at Gqeberha Magistrate court today and was released on R3000 bail and will appear again on 13 September 2024. The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene, has welcomed the arrest and confiscations of drugs and commended the team for addressing the root causes of crime and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
