9 August 2024 – Great results were achieved at Sturrock Park in Braamfontein, Johannesburg during the 2024 U15 National Championships on 9 August 2024. KwaZulu Natal girls showed exceptional accuracy and intelligent teamwork which stole the show while Gauteng’s boys displayed excellent football quality to dominate group A.
The tournament commenced at 9am for both male and female participants, culminating in the final matches scheduled for 1pm. These games were televised on several platforms including SABC +, DTT Channel 4, Super Sport Schools App and SuperSport’s Channel 216.
The presence of national scouts on the day was notable and they were highly impressed with the showcased talent.
Ntombifuthi Khumalo, head coach of the U15 National Team at www.safa.net, expressed her excitement regarding the exceptional talent, discipline and skill showcased by the provincial girls teams.
Khumalo expressed her delight in witnessing the presence of skilled, dedicated young players at this year’s National Championships. She revealed that they have already recognized a group of players who possess the ability to assist them in maintaining their African Schools Championship title.
Khumalo concluded by expressing enthusiasm for the impressive performance of the goalkeepers today and highlighted how beneficial it will be to nurture these talented female players, who may potentially assist the U17 Women’s National team in a few years.
On the second day of the tournament, there will be finals for placement and also both semi-finals and finals in this year’s U15 National Championships.
The games will be televised on SABC +, DTT Channel 4, the Super Sport Schools App and SuperSport’s Channel 216.
