VHEMBE – The South African Police Service in the District of Vhembe hosted its 1st edition of Excellence Awards on Friday, 02 August 2024, at the Porche Villa and Hotel in Muledane village. Excellence awards reward employees and Community Police Forum (CPF) structures who displayed excellence, dedication, and extraordinary commitment in the execution of their daily duties and beyond during the 2023/2024 financial year. The District Commissioner, Major General ERS Van der Walt, was joined by the Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Deputy Provincial Commissioner Human Resources Management , Major General Christine Morakaladi, Saps Former Generals (Lieutenant General Sengani, Major General Mulaudzi, and Major General Nembambula), DCS Area Commissioner of Thohoyandou Management Area Kutama, Mphaphuli Tribal Authority Chief Tshimange, District CPF Chairperson Adv. Muthobi, as well as the event donors. The District Excellence Awards are designed to support innovation and sustain an excellence-focused culture inside the company, ensuring that all workers carry on providing communities with expert services. Reverend Job Mulaudzi blessed the special occasion with a prayer, and Brigadier Mukwevho, the Station Commander of Thohoyandou welcomed everyone and gave a detailed explanation of the event. The Community, Policing Forum, South African Custodian Management, Metropolitan Life, and Old Mutual offered messages of support as the donors. Vhembe District Vispol Coordinator Colonel Rudzani Rakhadani, popularly known as Mama General Maddress,” oversaw the presentation of the awards item. Vhembe District Commissioner Major General ERS Van der Walt, Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, Deputy Provincial Commissioner Himan Resource Management, Major General Christine Morakaladi, former Generals, Department of Correctional Services Commissioners, and donors handed trophies, certificates, and gifts to the successful nominees. The District Excellence Awards featured 24 award categories this year, including the following: Admin Employee of the Year, High Risk Team of the Year, Detective and Forensic Member of the Year, Man and Woman of the Year, Quality Management category, Person with Disability in Sports of the Year, plus Special Recognition Awards. The guest speaker item was well elaborated by the Provincial Commissioner together with the Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for Human Resource Management. Chief Tshimange of the Mphaphuli Tribal Authority gave the police and nominees some advice and words of encouragement. The vote of thanks was presented by Senior Administrative Clerk Dama SF, the announcements were delivered by General Worker Chauke NG, and the event was concluded with a prayer by Reverend Job Mudau.
