Media Statement EASTERN CAPE – Major General Zolani Xawuka commended the excellent execution of tactical and intelligence driven operations that resulted in good successes. Over the weekend, members of Joubertina Police Station received information from the public about a housebreaking that is in progress at a shop in Krakeel and suspected that he is still inside the shop. Members responded immediately and tactically entered the shop and arrested a 15-year-old boy who was hiding in the ceiling. On a separate incident, members attached to Grahamstown Crime Intelligence team, K9, Operational Crime Centre (OCC) and Nelson Mandela Bay District Tactical Response Team (TRT) jointly conducted a tactical, intelligence driven operation and executed search warrants at targeted addresses in Addo resulting in the arrest of three suspects for serious crimes and also recovered an unlicensed firearm and confiscated drugs to an estimated street value of more than R13 000.00. They also arrested a 25-year-old man for possession of drugs In a crime intelligence driven operation, together with Jansenville Police led to a successful operation where a 22-year-old man was arrested for dealing in drugs and possession of suspected stolen property. Drugs to the estimated street value of more than twenty-two thousand, a television set, six cellphones, and a touch screen tablet were found in his possession and confiscated. All these suspects are due to appear before different Magistrate Courts soon.
The Sarah Baartman District Commissioner Major General Zolani Xawuka applauded members involved for good work done as Operation Shanela delivers good successes. “The plan is to blow every spark of good work to a consuming flame of excellence,” Major General Zolani Xawuka concluded.
