Media Statement KIMBERLEY – Roodepan SAPS observed the start to Women’s Month by conducting outreach programmes at Pescodia and Roodepan High Schools respectively on Thursday, 1 August 2024. The Roodepan Firearms, Liquor and Second Hands Goods (FLASH) Unit partnered with the Roodepan Liquor Forum and donated sanitary towels to the female learners. The Provincial Junior Commissioner for the Northern Cape, Simone van Rooyen, who is a learner at Pescodia High opened the proceedings with a prayer and welcomed the guests. Constable Charmaine Mokgatlhe of the Firearms, Liquor and Second Hands Goods (FLASH) section outlined the purpose of the day and the Chairperson of Roodepan Liquor Forum, Mrs Elizabeth Johnson addressed the learners about the dangers of alcohol abuse, the use of drugs and for leaners to avoid teenage pregnancies. The Station Commander of Roodepan Police, Colonel Pieter Jansen encourage learners to prioritize education and stay away from substance abuse before handing over the care packs to the learners.
Endeavours by SAPS to interact with youth of all ages will continue unabatedly and provide them the opportunity to robustly participate in crime prevention activities involving the youth.
