Accused and company convicted and sentenced for contravention of tax related matters

GAUTENG – Rudzani Mukwevho (55) and RVM Architectural Design (Pty) Ltd have been convicted and sentenced for contravention of tax administration on Friday, 26 July 2024.

Between 2012, 2022 and 2023 Mukwevho and his company RVM Architectural Design Pty Ltd failed to submit company tax and VAT 201 returns to the South African Revenue Service (SARS). The matter was reported to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation in November 2023 and on 12 March 2024 summons to appear in court were executed.

On 17 April 2024 Mukwevho and company made their first appearance at the Kagiso Magistrate Court and were charged with six (6) counts of contravention of Tax related matters for non-submission of Tax returns which culminated to a fine of R1000 per count and on 24 July 2024 a total of R6000 admission of guilt was paid by the accused and his company. The matter is part of a pilot project driven by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), South African Revenue Service (SARS) and National Prosecution Authority (NPA).
