Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Provincial Organized Crime Unit working on Intelligence apprehended four suspects allegedly involved in stock theft. It is alleged that an operation under the command of Provincial Head Organised Crime Investigation Brigadier Sakie Brancon was embarked upon and conducted at Seshego and Blood River. According to information the Provincial Organised crime unit registered an enquiry and obtained for search warrant and warrant of arrest against identified individuals. On Wednesday 17 July 2024, the Unit conducted a takedown operation around Westernburg Policing area and arrested the suspects involved in stock theft around Capricorn district. This emanated from intelligence network that criminal grouping syndicate were involved in stock Theft around the area. A lengthy investigation was conducted by Provincial Organised crime unit and a project Sekolo was registered. The project was directed by an Advocate from the office of Director of Public Prosecutions who made the decision to charge the suspects by issuing of Warrant of arrests Four suspects were arrested as follows:
1. Hezekiel lebogo Mabotja. Age 49 All four suspects were charged and they appeared at the Magistrate court of Polokwane on Friday the 19 July 2024 for first appearance and were remanded in custody until the 26 July 2024 for further police investigations and bail application.
More arrests are expected.
