Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – Senyane Morokapula Rangaka (41) has been sentenced by the Bluedowns Regional Court on 18 July 2024 for Contravention of Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act, Act 140 of 1992. He was sentenced to R40 000.00 or four years imprisonment of which R20 000.00 or two years is suspended for a period of five years. In terms of Section 103(2) of the Firearms Control Act, Act 60 of 2000, the accused was further declared unfit to possess a firearm. This emanates from April 2021 when members of the Public Order Police (POPS) and Crime Intelligence followed up on information regarding a possible stolen vehicle and unlicensed firearms at Vredelust farm in Kraaifontein. During the search, members encountered large quantity of cannabis to the value of R486 200.00. No firearms or stolen vehicle were recovered. Two accused, Rangaka and Rae-Leigh Lauren Adonis (39) were arrested and charged. The matter was referred to the Hawks South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) team for further investigation and Rangaka eventually pleaded guilty, hence the sentence.
