POLOKWANE – The diligent efforts of the Police in Malamulele and Muyexe have resulted in the arrest of two male suspects in connection with separate murder cases that occurred on Sunday, 14 July 2024. In Malamulele, the Police responded to a report of Assault GBH at Mahonisi village in the early hours of Sunday, 14 July 2024. Allegedly, a dispute between a woman and her boyfriend escalated at a tavern, prompting the woman to flee. Tragically, the boyfriend pursued her and struck her with a brick along the way. Despite the swift response of the Police and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel, the victim, identified as Marima Nhlanhla (32) from Mahonisi village, succumbed to her injuries at the local hospital. Subsequently, a murder case was opened, leading to the arrest of the boyfriend as the prime suspect. In a separate incident on the same day within the Muyexe policing area, a 42-year-old suspect was apprehended at Giyani Homu 14c village for his involvement in a murder case. The suspect allegedly assaulted the victim with a dry wood at Mahlathi village on Sunday, 14 July 2024, resulting in the victim’s tragic demise upon arrival at the hospital. The victim was identified as Nzama Patson Chavalala (67) from Mahlathi village. Further investigation by the Police will aim to ascertain the circumstances that led to these tragic incidents. Both arrested suspects are scheduled to appear before the Malamulele and Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 16 July 2024, as the Police continue their investigations to the cases. Ends
