POLOKWANE – The South African Police Service in Limpopo conducted a series of high-density operations across the province, resulting in the apprehension of 385 suspects and the recovery of 11 firearms and 28 various type of live ammunition over the past week. The operations, conducted between 08 July and 14 July 2024, were executed in various hotspots known for high levels of criminal activity. The SAPS officers, in collaboration with other local law enforcement agencies and relevant stakeholders, worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of citizens and disrupt criminal networks. Among the arrests, suspects were apprehended for a range of offenses, including murder, rape robbery, assault, carjacking, drug-related crimes, and possession of illegal firearms and ammunition. The recovery of 11 firearms demonstrates the SAPS’s commitment to reducing serious and violent crimes and ensuring safer communities. Furthermore, police confiscated a substantial quantity of drugs such as dagga, heroine, and crystal meth, illicit cigarettes, and stolen property, including cellphones as well as counterfeit goods. The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe stated, “The successful outcome of these operations reflects our ongoing dedication to maintaining law and order. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that those who engage in criminal activities face the consequences of their actions in terms of the law.” reiterated Lieutenant General Hadebe. Ends
