Media Statement CHRIS HANI DISTRICT – The District Commissioner, Major General Rudolph Adolph, has welcomed the sentencing of five suspects who were sentenced to life imprisonment at Cradock High Court on Thursday 27 June 2024, for conspiracy to murder, murder, attempted murder and rape. During October 2023, the deceased Masixole Mbulali together with his girlfriend were attacked while they were sleeping in their home at Cradock. Investigation was conducted for murder, attempted murder and rape and the case was assigned to Investigating Officer Sergeant Eyssen. Later five suspects, Masixole Sokoti 18, Sinetemba Pani 25, Sizwesetu Jonas 32, Zizipo Pani 32 and Siyamthemba James 38, were arrested and it revealed that their motive for the attack was to claim from the insurance where they covered the victim who survived. On Thursday 27 June 2024, all these suspects were found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment. District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph congratulated the investigating officer Detective Sergeant Eyssen from Cradock SAPS for her unwavering dedication and perseverance in bringing the criminals to justice. ‘The exemplary investigation not only led to a successful conviction but reinforced community’s trust in the effectiveness of our investigation’ he added.
