Media Statement JOUBERTINA – An intelligence driven, multidisciplinary operation conducted by Police members, Department of Home Affairs, local private securities successfully removed drugs estimated to the street value of R100, 000 from the communities in Joubertina and has further led to the arrest of three suspected drug dealers aged between 33 and 39. Search warrants were obtained for seven identified premises that were targeted based on information received about selling of drugs, the receiving of stolen goods in exchange for drugs, as well as the possession of illegal firearms. Police flooded the area leaving no space for getaway during the execution of the operation. A total of three male suspects were arrested in separate incidents in Joubertina during which mandrax tablets, tik and prepacked dagga were found in their possession. The suspects are due to appear before the Joubertina Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, 01 July 2024. The Sarah Baartman District Commissioner applauded the members and partners involved for the good work as drugs are one of the biggest contributing factors of crime. “I wish to encourage communities to come forward with information that can assist us in removing not only the drugs from communities but also those that are dealing with illicit drugs to anonymously contact SAPS Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or via our MySAPS App,” Major General Zolani Xawuka concluded.
