Media Statement NELSPRUIT – The Police in Pienaar are investigating a case of murder after a man’s burnt body was found at Maphakama Sport Ground in Pienaar on Monday, 17 June 2024. According to a report, Police as well as the Paramedics received information regarding the incident at a place called Lihawu in Pienaar and upon arrival, they found the body burnt beyond recognition. A murder case was then registered and a probe immediately commenced though no one has been arrested as yet. The motive behind the killing is unknown at this stage however Police will not leave any stone unturned as they will hunt down the perpetrators thereof. The victim is unknown at this point in time hence Police are in the process of seeking the family of the victim. His age could be between 25 and 27 years. Circumstances surrounding this incident will form part of the investigation. Alternatively members of the public can send information via MySAPS App. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous. Meanwhile the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi has strongly condemned the murder incident and reassured the public that the Police will work around the clock to ensure that anyone behind the killing is swiftly brought to book.
