Media Statement NGAKA MODIRI MOLEMA DISTRICT – Itsoseng police station held Career Exhibition as part of Youth Month on Thursday, 13 June 2024, at the Department of Home Affairs. The proceedings commenced with a prayer by Pastor Mobe, while the Chairperson of Itsoseng stakeholders Forum, Mr Thapelo Molobeng welcomed all in attendance. The following stakeholders: South African Police Service (SAPS), Departments of Social Development and Education, University of Pretoria, Department of health, the Independent Electoral Authority (IEC), South African Breweries (SAB), Cande Transport and Mmabatho FM Station Manager as well as learners from different schools within the Ditsobotla municipality attended and participated in the event. In her address, Mrs Precious Maputla from University of Pretoria in the faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, encouraged learners to take Mathematics and Geography as their subjects of choice if they want to pursue their studies in the environment. Me Tswelelang Khunou of SAB advised learners about various available opportunities in their company including engineering studies. In his remarks, Mmabatho FM station manager, Mr Mike “Navigator” Nzweni spoke at length about the importance of education. He said; “your background should not determine your destination. It is possible if you are focused to become anything that you want in life.” The programme ended with Sergeant Montsho unpacking the requirements of being a police officer. She said one big issue that makes many no to go through, is tattoo marks and use of drugs. She also highlighted various careers within the SAPS. The youth were also encouraged to join SAPS as the employer of choice. Ends
