NELSPRUIT – A 29-year-old suspect is expected to appear at the Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 18 June 2024 on allegations of double murder charges which reportedly occurred around Vosman Policing Precinct on separate dates. Further reports indicate that the suspect was in fact arrested during his court appearance on a case of business robbery as well as another case of possession of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition. Details of which points out that the two cases were reportedly committed in the Witbank Policing area. His undue luck ran dry when the Police in Vosman recognized him while appearing in court on Thursday, 13 June 2024, for the latter charges and the astute members immediately arrested him on the spot. The suspect is currently in custody and will have to account for the untimely deaths of Nkosinathi Mashele (25) as well as Sunday Nkosi (21). According to information, the suspect allegedly shot and killed Nkosi on 30 October 2022, at a business establishment in Lynnville and had evaded arrest since. On 12 February 2024, he allegedly assaulted Mashele to death, an incident which occurred in Hlalanikahle within Bosman area and also absconded the scene of crime immediately when the community descended on him with assortment of assault objects. In all the aforesaid murders, the suspect was never arrested until he was cornered at Witbank. Police in Vosman are convinced that the firearm that the suspect is standing accused of in Witbank, could possibly be the one used in Nkosi’s murder. However, conclusions cannot be drawn currently, pending further investigations underway. The Police investigation will also zoom in to ascertain whether the suspect is not involved in other criminal activities. The suspect’s arrest will hopefully bring closure to families of the victims.
