Media Statement TSOLO – Good partnership between police and the communities yielded positive results when Tsolo police and members attached to Stock Theft unit received information about suspected stolen sheep that are kept at a certain homestead in Ntshiqo locality outside Tsolo. On Thursday, 13 June 2024, Police swiftly operationalised the information and proceeded to the identified homestead where on arrival they recovered ten sheep and one suspect, aged 27, was arrested. Thorough investigation led police to a place in the CBD where they found 12 sheep being slaughtered by four suspects and they were also arrested. All 22 sheep were identified and handed over to the rightful owner. These suspects were charged for stock theft and are awaiting their court appearance at Tsolo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 18 June 2024. The OR Tambo District Commissioner, Major General Pumzile Cetyana, applauded Tsolo police members for their swift action in curbing stock theft in the district as this case was reported the previous night, 12 June 2024 “We will continue with the SAPS mandate to investigate and combat crime and ensure that perpetrators are behind bars,” he added.
