Media Statement THABONG – A 64-year-old complainant was at work with his colleague inside the shop with the door locked at Matima Lenyora Engine Garage in Thabong on 10 June 2024 at about 01:25. Seven unknown males armed with firearms approached the business premises and were instructed to open the door at gunpoint. The door was opened and they ordered them to open the drop-safe however, they did not succeed. They took cash from the cash register and two cellphones. The two employees were instructed to lay down on the floor and explosives were put inside the drop-safe but it never exploded. The police arrived at the scene. Suspects started to shoot at the police and SAPS members returned fire. Nobody sustained any injuries during the crossfire. A case of business robbery and attempted murder was registered for further investigation Anyone with information leading to the arrests of these armed robbers is requested to contact the police at Crime Stop number 08600 10111.
