Media Statement POLOKWANE – The South African Police Service in Lebowakgomo under Capricorn District are investigating a case of business robbery that was committed at a retail store in a Complex on Sunday, 09 June 2024 at about 13:00. It is reported that a 27-year-old employee of the store was standing next to the door when an unknown male entered and pretended to be a customer. The suspect went straight to the cellphone cabinet, and she followed with the intention to assist him. Suddenly, the suspect lifted a T-shirt and showed the employee a firearm on his waist, and she immediately took out all the cellphones from the cabinet. The three additional male suspects entered the shop, and one suspect was also in possession of a firearm. Furthermore, the suspects robbed an undisclosed amount of cash and two cellphones belonging to the employees. Afterward, the suspects took out two handbags and went to the storeroom and opened the safe. The suspects managed to rob a large quantity of additional cellphones that were stored inside the safe. Following the incident, the suspects fled the scene on foot. The incident was reported to the police and a manhunt of the suspects was immediately activated for their apprehension.
