Illicit mining operation Vala Umgodi halts drug trade in ZF Mgcawu District

KIMBERLEY – During a disruptive operation in the early hours of Saturday, 08 June 2024, the illicit mining Operation Vala Umgodi conducted an operation in Boitshoko, Postdene, Maranteng, Newtown, Greenfield and Carnation in Postmasburg following information gathered on suspected illicit drug dealing in the area.

The team arrested three male suspects between the ages of 24 and 36 year old for possession of drugs and a 40-year-old suspect for being in possession of stolen property and for possession of drugs.

Drugs and money believed to be the proceeds of crime was seized.

Uniform, believed to be that of law enforcement was recovered and confiscated.

The suspects will appear in court soon.

Operation Vala Umgodi disruptive actions will continue to address illicit mining and related crimes throughout the province.
