Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – Police members attached to the Anti-Gang Unit continues to arrest offenders of the law on serious and violent charges. The members deployed in Delft to combat the ongoing gang violence entered Delft policing precinct on Saturday 08 June and conducted operations. They approached a dwelling known as a hotspot for gang members and searched the premises and the occupants and recovered a consignment of ammunition. They detained an adult female on a charge of unlawful possession of ammunition. Meanwhile, the operational deployment posted in Strand on Sunday 09 June to stabilize and disrupt gang activities responded to information and pounced on an address in Fern Street. Upon arrival they restrained the occupants and searched the entire premises and confiscated a firearm with ammunition and drugs. They arrested an adult male on charges of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition and possession of drugs.
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Bellville and Strand Magistrates’ courts on the mentioned charges.
