Media Statement POLOKWANE – A 35-year-old male suspect involved in several business robberies in Mopani District was apprehended during a joint operation that was executed by the Tzaneen Tracking Team and Modjadjiskloof police on Wednesday 05 June 2024 in Bolobedu South, Tzaneen policing area. The suspect was nabbed at Leretjeni village but initially nothing was found in his possession. However he was detained for further investigations. Following lengthy interrogations, a 35-year-old male revealed that the firearm used during the commission of the business robberies was concealed at his residence in Thapane village. Police proceeded to the premises together with the suspect and found a white Jeep Cherokee motor vehicle parked inside the yard on their arrival. The bonnet of the motor vehicle was opened and two firearms with ammunition were found inside it. A 35-year-old male suspect was subsequently arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Further investigation will be conducted to see if the suspect cannot be linked with a series of business robbery cases opened at Tzaneen and Mokwakwaila SAPS areas amongst others respectively. The suspect is expected to appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate court together with his co-accused who was arrested during the month of May 2024.
