GAUTENG – A safety talk was held at Katlego primary school, whereby children from the foundation phase were addressed and given awareness about child abuse, exploitation, trafficking, and many more other forms of violence against children. This awareness was conducted under the set theme of 2024, “Every conversation matters, every child in every community needs a fair go”. It was emphasized to the learners and teachers that children must be heard and given an opportunity to express themselves. All children should feel comfortable speaking out to their parents and teachers about anything and everything.
As all learners will be going for the school holidays this month, they are urged to stay alert and to always be around their parents at home and always be with an adult when going to the parks. They were told to report abuse to their immediate guardians, teachers, and the police for protection and assistance.
