HOOPSTAD – Police Constable Mckenzie Segola, attached to Hoopstad Visible Policing, received information from a concerned resident about people fighting in Mosala Street next to a well-known tavern and that they have a firearm. The information was operationalised on 1 June 2024 at about 02:20, when the three unknown African males were identified and approached, a firearm fell to the ground. One of the suspects grabbed it and ran away from the scene. The two were arrested and the third one was chased until he was arrested near Hoopstad Traffic Department.

The three suspects, aged 33, 34 and 35, were arrested and are facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Members who made the arrests and seized the firearm were Constables Mckenzie Segola, Manana Lesole and Sergeant Humphry Makate of Hoopstad Visible Policing.
