Media Statement CAPE TOWN – Efforts to eradicate the distribution of drugs in the Western Cape Province yielded success when members of the Anti-Economical and Extortion Task Teams arrested foreign nationals for the possession of drugs in Langa on Monday, 27 May 2024. The members performed crime prevention duties in the Langa policing precinct when they received information about drugs which are stored at a premises in Masakani Street, Zone 16. They operationalised the information and ensued with a search of the identified premises upon which they confiscated a consignment of drugs consisting of cocaine, mandrax and crystal meth. They arrested an adult male for the possession of drugs. Furthermore, the members searched another premises in Langa and arrested four males, aged between 26 and 50, who were found in possession of a large quantity of dagga. The suspects will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on once they have been charged. Ends
