Media Statement MAKHAZA – Police arrested three suspects for the possession of a hijacked vehicle on Tuesday, 21 May 2024. While patrolling, the members spotted a white Ford Bantam LDV, of which the occupants acted suspiciously. Upon testing the vehicle, the members discovered that the vehicle was hijacked in Harare earlier. They managed to pull over the vehicle and arrested the three occupants for being in possession of the hijacked vehicle. Once charged, the adult male suspects will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ court on the above-mentioned charge. In an unrelated incident, members of the Tulbagh Crime Prevention Unit members were busy with foot patrols in the Riverside informal settlement when they saw two men exchanging money and drugs. When the men spotted the police members, they ran off. The members chased the suspects and apprehended a foreign national adult man. They searched him and found 33 packets containing crystal meth in his possession. He was subsequently arrested for the possession of drugs. He will appear in the Tulbagh Magistrates’ court once his been charged. Ends
