Who will decide which players will leave Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the season? Cavin Johnson has said it will be a bit complicated.
KAIZER CHIEFS TO DECIDE ON PLAYER’S FUTURES
It is has been confirmed that Amakhosi will announce a new head coach for next season. Meanwhile, a list of players face ending contracts in 30 June. Which players will go and who will decide?
“I think that it’s not my area right now to give you that number because, in an institution like Kaizer Chiefs, it’s done around the table,” Johnson said via iDiski Times.
“I’m only part of the tick, there are other people who also have to make another tick, it’s not a one-man show, I think you’ve known this for a long time.
“If we have to say yes [this one must stay, or this one must go] then that’s Cavin Johnson’s idea, not Kaizer Chiefs idea, and this is how I think an institution like Kaizer Chiefs is operated from.
“It’s operated from a place of where there is more than one person making decisions on who brings players and who lets them go. I think it’s normal in any club all over the world.
“Yes, you have the person who sits in my seat, who is able to converse with you but in the back, there’s a conference that takes place for that to happen,” the outgoing Kaizer Chiefs coach concluded.

“Players such as George Matlou, Keagan Dolly, Reeve Frosler, Dillan Solomons and Tebogo Potsane are still nursing an assortment of ailments. Defender, Edmilson Dove, will also miss his third game in a row after he picked up his second red card of the season against TS Galaxy two weeks ago,” Kaizer Chiefs concluded.
THATAYAONE DITLHOKWE MOTIVATED
Talking about players and injuries, Ditlhokwe has been back to full fitness. The 25-year-old Mostwana confirmed that Amakhosi are fully determined to seal a top eight place.
“As we come to the end of the season, in my opinion it hasn’t gone as well as had hoped,” Ditlhokwe told the club’s media.
“I was out for almost six months, but that’s football, you know. Injuries are part of the game. Being unable to play has been difficult but now I am grateful to have recovered fully
“This last game is still very important and we are preparing very seriously in order to solidify our spot in the Top 8. They may already be relegated but that can make them dangerous because they have nothing to lose, and we have a lot to lose. Therefore, we are preparing to be at our best. There is a chance of the other teams on the same points overtaking us, which is why we are focused first and foremost on winning against Spurs, and hopefully scoring a few goals.
“Every player is fully motivated to get the result we need, especially for our supporters, who have been behind us all the way, even when we haven’t done so well. So, we really want to end the season well and give them something to look forward to next season,” the towering Kaizer Chiefs central defender concluded.
Meanwhile, a possible failure to beat the Urban Warriors will give the likes of AmaZulu, Golden Arrows and Polokwane City an opportunity to sneak into the top eight.
