Media Statement POLOKWANE – Police are searching for a suspect alleged to have committed attempted murder and rape at Tshikonelo, Vhembe District, on Saturday, 18 May 2024. The victim alleged that she was with the suspect at one of the taverns in Mhinga, when she was forcibly driven to Pfalanomo village by the suspect who was driving a BMW silver grey in colour. On arrival at Pfalanomo, the suspect raped her and left her there. She began running towards Tshikonelo when she spotted the oncoming lights of a motor vehicle approaching. She discovered that the person who raped her is the one in the motor vehicle. The suspect threatened the victim to enter into the motor vehicle; she entered and was then hit and stabbed by a beer bottle. She was then thrown out of the motor vehicle and pretended to be dead, and the suspect fled the scene. She was later rescued by a passer-by, who took her to the nearby hospital for medical attention. Police were notified, and an attempted murder and rape case was opened.
