Operation Vala Umgodi remains steadfast in the fight against illegal mining and related criminal activities

KIMBERLEY – An intelligence driven operation conducted by the multi-disciplinary Operation Vala Umgodi team in Pampierstad on Tuesday, 14 May 2024 secured the arrest of a 34-year-old male, for possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and possession of suspected drugs.

Further investigation led to the arrest of two men, aged 33 and 42 after they were found in possession of suspected drugs.

A firearm, with ammunition, and drugs with an estimated street value of R14 485 was confiscated.

The arrested suspects will appear in the Pampierstad Magistrates Court soon.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, applauded the members for their swift response and commended community involvement in assisting the police to address illicit mining and related crimes.
