Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – The Bellville based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team of Hawks have on 14 May 2024 arrested an additional suspect aged 54 years on charges of fraud. He is expected to appear at the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court on 16 May 2024. His arrest emanates from an incident in February 2024 when Dylan Conroy Kannemeyer, who is also an accused in this matter, allegedly submitted false documentation to Halfway Ford in Goodwood for vehicle finance on a Ford Ranger to the value of R679 895-00. The Hawks’ meticulous investigation revealed that Kannemeyer allegedly worked with other accomplices in producing fraudulent documents. He was subsequently arrested and a search for his accomplices ensued. Furthermore, Hawks team also uncovered three more fraudulent vehicle finance applications that were processed by him and other accomplices who are persons of interest to the investigation and this resulted in an estimated financial loss of R1,5 million. Kannemeyer (28) is currently out on bail and is expected back at the Goodwood Magistrates Court on 15 May 2024 where he will be joined by other co-accused Muhammed Ameer Abrahams (24) who was granted R5000.00 bail after his court appearance at Goodwood on 10 May 2024. The other suspect aged 46, who was arrested together with Muhammed was not enrolled at Court on this matter, as he had a warrant of arrest on another matter in Athlone. Ends
