Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Police in Jane Furse launched a manhunt for suspects who committed a house robbery at Jane Furse hospital on Friday, 10 May 2024 and also in a separate incident for suspects who shot and killed two men who were seated outside a bar lounge next to a fuel station, on Saturday, 11 May 2024. Police reports indicated that, a group of unknown suspects armed with firearms, went to Jane Furse Hospital at the employee’s residential houses and robbed four student nurses of their belongings, on Friday, 10 May 2024 at around 15:30. The suspects threatened the victims with firearms and instructed them not to scream. The suspects fled the scene with items including two iPhone cellphones, two Huawei notebooks, one Samsung Galaxy cellphone, groceries, clothes and an undisclosed amount of money, all at an estimated value of R70, 000.00. The suspects were wearing masks and it was also established that the security guard was tied up in another room. Police were summoned to the scene and registered a case of house robbery to trace the suspects. In another incident, two males were shot and killed on Saturday, 11 May 2024 at around 23:30, while seated outside a bar lounge. It is alleged that shots were fired and thereafter two people were found with gunshot wounds. The Police and Emergency Medical Services were summoned to the scene. Two men were certified dead at the scene. Their identity are still withheld for investigation purposes. The motive behind the incident will be revealed as investigations unfold. Police opened a case of two counts of murder.
