Media Statement POLOKWANE – The members of Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit in Giyani have launched an extensive search for the suspect, who raped a 13-year-old girl, on 04 May 2024 at around 19:00 in Xitlhelani village, Malamulele policing area under Vhembe District. The police received reports that the minor was coming from the shop when she met an unknown suspect, who threatened her with a knife and dragged her to the bushes and raped her. The victim went home but was scared to report the incident to her mother until Wednesday, 08 May 2024. She immediately took her daughter to the local hospital and also alerted the police about the incident. A case of rape was opened for further investigation. The police appeal to anyone with information that can lead to the apprehension of the suspect to contact the investigating officer Constable Collen Netili on 072 735 3572 or Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or nearest police station or MySAPS App. Police investigation is continuing.
