Media Statement
It is alleged that during April 2018, Sishaba colluded with his co-accused Ndumiso Humphrey Mfundu Dlozi, also a director in the same company. They claimed tax refunds by submitting via e-filing for the income tax period of 2014/15 financial year. The South African Revenue Service (SARS) suffered an actual loss of R 239 875.14 which was paid out into the business account. Furthermore, SARS would have suffered a potential loss of R 1 978 709.87 for the 2014/15 income tax period, had it not been for the diligence of their team. The Hawks uncovered a trail of transactions from their business account into other accounts. The amount of R 50 000.00 was then paid into a company called “Flicker Construction cc” owned by Sonto Joyce Masuku. Another amount of R 50 000.00 was paid into another beneficiary, Thando Patrick Zwane’s personal bank account. The trio, Dlozi, Masuku and Zwane were arrested and later released on bail. Dlozi was given R5000 bail while Masuku and Zwane were each granted R2000 bail. They are expected to be back in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s court on 14 May 2024. The Acting Provincial Head of the Hawks in Mpumalanga, Brigadier William Mokonyama urges Sishaba to come forward and hand himself to the police. Brigadier Mokonyama also appeals to the public to assist with information regarding Sishaba’s whereabouts. Anyone with information can contact the investigating Officer, Warrant Officer Dumisani Zwane on 071 481 3491, all information received will be dealt with confidentiality. Ends
