Media Statement POLOKWANE – The South African Police Service in Mokopane are investigating a business robbery and series of house robbery incidents that were committed at separate locations between 06 Monday until the early hours of Tuesday 07 May 2024 at about 02:15. It is reported that a Security guard was allegedly sleeping at the industrial area, Self Storage in Pretorius Street when he was awakened by four unknown male suspects who were wearing balaclavas. Three suspects were in possession of firearms and ordered the victim to keep quiet and not to press the panic button. The victim was tied up with cable ties and put inside one of the containers used for storage. The suspects who were speaking in Sepedi and Shona languages opened other containers and took solar panels worth thousands of rands together with the victim’s undisclosed amount of cash and tekkies. Afterwards, the suspects managed to flee the scene with an unknown motor vehicle that was used to transport the robbed properties. In addition, two unknown male suspects committed a house robbery at a residential premise in Thabo Mbeki drive, Mokopane on Monday 07 May 2024 at about 01:45. The duo reportedly broke the bathroom window and burglar bars to gain entry and found a female victim sleeping and woke her up while in possession of pangas. One suspect unplugged the cellphone which was busy charging and instructed the victim to open her banking app in order to show them the amount of money in her bank account. The suspects ultimately took the victim’s bank card and demanded the pin code while threatening to come back to kill her if it was incorrect. The duo took a handbag, an undisclosed amount of cash with two watches valued at R4000.00 and fled the scene on foot. Moreover, a 23-year-old female victim was reportedly sleeping at Sterkwater Phase 2 under Tinmyne policing area when an unknown male suspect robbed her of her jacket and two cellphones valued at R1920.00 on Monday 06 May 2024 at about 02:15. The suspect entered the house and instructed the victim to keep quiet while threatening to kill her if she screams. The victim was ordered to undress but refused and the suspect attempted to grab her by the neck. She overpowered him and screamed for assistance and the suspect managed to flee the scene on foot and left a bottle of beer and a knife he brought with to the scene of crime. A manhunt for the unknown male suspects is underway and anyone with information that can assist should contact the Investigating Officer, Sergeant Matsipi Makwela on 076 786 1447 or Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or nearest police station or MySAPS App. Police investigations are continuing.
