POLOKWANE – A 25-year-old male suspect was nabbed in Mahwelereng policing area following the house robbery and murder incident that happened at Extension 19 residential area next to a Taxi Rank during the early hours of Monday, 29 April 2024. It is alleged that the 25-year-old suspect entered a house through a window while his ex-girlfriend and a 28 year-old boyfriend were sleeping. The ex-girlfriend reportedly screamed and alerted her boyfriend about the intruder and a fight ensued between the two men. The suspect suddenly took out a sharp object and stabbed the boyfriend multiple times on the upper body. Afterwards, a 25-year-old suspect fled the scene on foot and took the cellphone of his ex-girlfriend valued at R2500. The members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned at the scene and declared a 28-year-old male dead upon their arrival. Following the incident, a house robbery and murder case was opened at Mokopane SAPS and a manhunt for the suspect was immediately activated for his apprehension. Police went to his residence at Extension 19, searched the premises, and found the clothes he was wearing at the time of the incident together with a weapon suspected to have been used to commit the murder and the stolen cellphone of the ex-girlfriend. A massive manhunt of the suspect continued and subsequently led to his apprehension while at his hideout in Mosesetjane village outside Mokopane on Monday 29 April 2024 at about 09:00. The suspect is expected to appear before the Mokopane Magistrate court soon facing a charge of house robbery and murder.
