POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has directed the police to leave no stone unturned to trace and arrest suspects involved in house robberies within Seshego policing area. The concern follows two house robberies that were committed at separate locations in the early hours of Wednesday, 17 April 2024. A 53-year-old female victim was allegedly sleeping at her rental residence when the door of her room was kicked and forcefully opened by three unknown suspects in Hospital view. One suspect produced a firearm and pointed at the victim and demanded money. The suspects robbed the victim an undisclosed amount of cash and cellphone and later fled the scene on foot. Meanwhile, another house robbery incident took place in Zone 1, Masakaneng Section. It is reported that a 22-year-old female victim was sleeping with her mother in separate rooms within the yard when two unknown male suspects wearing balaclavas kicked and forcefully opened the doors and entered without their consent. One of the suspects also produced a firearm and fired one shot on the floor and started to demand money from the victims. Ultimately, a 22-year-old victim and her mother were robbed two cellphones and the duo fled the scene on foot afterward. Police have launched a massive manhunt to apprehend the five suspects involved in the house robberies. “I have directed the police to work around the clock to track, trace and apprehend the suspects. We simply cannot allow our communities to be terrorised in their own backyards. These criminals must face the full might of law for their unlawful actions,” said Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
