Media Statement KIMBERLEY – The Kuruman Regional Court recently sentenced 38-year-old Tumisang Sebogodi to 20 years’ imprisonment, following the kidnapping and rape of a 14-year-old girl in Tsineng, Kuruman on Saturday, 26 October 2013. The Court heard that the accused grabbed the victim and forced her into his grandmother’s house where she was raped. The Court found Tumisang Sebogodi guilty and sentenced him to 15 years’ imprisonment for one count of rape and five years’ for kidnapping, both sentences will run concurrently. The accused was declared unfit to possess a firearm and his name will be recorded in the National Register for Sex Offenders. The Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola commended the Investigating Officer Detective Constable Kentse Eunice Mokgosi from the Kuruman Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) for being persistant in presenting all necessary evidence in court, ensuring that the suspect is brought to book.
