Media Statement CAPE TOWN – The prevalence of drugs within our communities remains a major crime generator which contributes to more serious and violent crime in our province, and therefore SAPS members remain committed and vigilant to rid our streets from the scourge of drug abuse. Members attached to Bishop Lavis SAPS have last night, Monday, 08 April 2024 at about 21:35, followed up on information received from a member of the public of illegal drug dealing in their precinct. The information led the members to a premises situated in Ramsey Avenue in Bishop Lavis where they ensued with a search of the identified premises. The members discovered a substantial quantity of dagga, estimated at a value of about R55 000.00 inside the premises. They also seized an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be the proceeds of the illicit drug trade. They subsequently arrested the 54-year-old home occupant who faces a charge of dealing in drugs. He will appear in the Bishops Lavis Magistrates’ court on mentioned charge, once charged. Ends
