KIMBERLEY – The Keimoes police in the ZF Mgcawu district received information from the public of possible suspicious illegal ammunition that was buried on a farm near the Lutzputs road in the Northern Cape on Wednesday, 03 April 2024. The police executed a search plan and assembled an operational team comprising of Detectives, Crime Prevention and K9 Units to search the area. Their search led them to 350 rounds of 9mm ammunition and 200 rounds of LMG calibre ammunition. The police are not ruling out the possibility of more ammunition and firearms being hidden in the area hence are combing the area with search teams. No suspects were arrested yet and police are requesting anyone who might have information about the source of these ammunition can contact the police toll free line 08600 10111 or use MySAPS App. All information received will be treated confidentially.
The Acting Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner ,Major General Luntu Ngubelanga appreciated the efforts of the search teams and thanked the public for providing information to the police ensuring that illegal firearms and ammunition are removed from criminals.
