WESTERN CAPE – Members of Operation Restore deployed in Mfuleni policing precinct to curb gang violence and robberies arrested two suspects for the possession of imitation firearms and drugs on Friday, 05 April 2024. The members were busy with stop and search operations when they noticed a male who started running when he saw the police vehicles approaching. The members immediately gave chase and apprehended the suspect in Gongo Street, Happy Valley. A search of the suspect ensued upon which two imitation firearms with ammunition were found in his possession. The 34-year-old suspect faces charges for the illegal possession of ammunition and possession of imitation firearms. Furthermore, the members proceeded with their intervention and searched another suspect in Moxolo Street, Happy Valley. They then found the suspect in possession of 40 mandrax tablets and an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be the proceeds of crime. The 24-year-old suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs.
The suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ court on Monday.
