FREE STATE – On Thursday, 04 April 2024. Members of Welkom Anti-Gang Unit followed up on an intelligence led information about unlicensed firearms and ammunitions. The information led members to a retail store where the lawful owner of a house in Mikro Avenue, Jan Cilliers Park, was collected. The team accompanied by the owner drove to the house, and upon arrival, members started searching the house. One member, while searching inside a coffee table, made a discovery of two firearms and ammunition The 34-year-old owner failed to produce a license nor permit for the possession of such firearms. The suspect was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition
The two firearms will be taken for ballistic testing. He will appear in the Welkom Magistrate court soon. Investigations continue.
