FREE STATE – Two foreign nationals, aged 38 and 41, will appear in the Petrusburg magistrate court soon on two charges. It is alleged that on 3 April 2024 at about 24:00, a 21-year-old victim, who is the complainant, reported to the police that she was sleeping when she was suddenly woken up by three suspects inside the house. She further said the suspects gained entrance through the roof and were armed with knives. They demanded the victim’s cellphone and bankcards before taking the victim to their car, which was parked beside the road on the N8. They suddenly saw the police vehicle in their vicinity, decided to leave the victim next to the road, and drove off to Koffiefontein. Along the way, they abandoned the vehicle and ran by foot to the neighbouring farms. The case was reported, and the search immediately started. The dog unit was also informed, which took police to where the suspects were hiding. Two suspects were arrested, and the third one is still at large.
The suspect’s vehicle was impounded to be used as evidence during the trial. The suspects will appear in court on charges of house robbery and kidnapping.
