EASTERN CAPE – Police are on the hunt for three suspects involved in an armed robbery at a farm in Somerset East on Tuesday, 2 April 2024. It is alleged that at about 10:30 on the mentioned date, the 79-year-old farmer was busy feeding ostriches in front of his house when one of his farm workers, was escorted by three unknown men who pointed a firearm at them. The farmer and his employee (32) were ushered into the house and their hands and feet were bound. The farmer’s girlfriend, aged 46 years old, was forced to open the safe where a hunting rifle, .38 revolver, and cash was taken. The suspects also took two TV sets and two cell phones. They drove off in the farmer’s bakkie, an Isuzu double cab which is still missing.
The Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit in Gqeberha is investigating a case of House Robbery.
