Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Lebowakgomo Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit of the South African Police Service is actively investigating a distressing case of rape involving a 17-year-old girl. The incident occurred on 15 November 2023, resulting in the victim getting pregnant. The victim, who resides with her grandmother in Makotse, was reportedly raped by an unidentified man at Zone B near the high school around 07:30 on the fateful day. Overwhelmed by fear, the victim chose not to disclose the incident immediately, and the circumstances surrounding the incident will be established as the investigation progresses. A case of rape was opened in March 2024, prompting a thorough police inquiry into the matter. The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has condemned the incident. “I have instructed the Police to track down this ruthless criminal, arrested him and bring him before court to face the full might of the law” Concluded General Hadebe.
