WESTERN CAPE – Pre-weekend operations to address the prevalence of firearms which contributes to the commission of serious crime over weekends, proved to be successful with the confiscation of three firearms and ammunition and subsequent arrests of perpetrators. On Thursday, 21 March 2024 at approximately 04:20, members attached to the Anti-Gang-Unit conducted a tracing operations when they received and operationalised information regarding firearms possibly being stored at a premises situated in the Strand policing area. Members accosted the address and ensued with a search upon which they discovered three firearm and ammunition. The firearms and ammunition were seized and the three suspects in whose possession it was found, were arrested for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The male suspects aged 25, 28 and 55 are scheduled to appear in the Strand Magistrates’ court, once charged.
