Duo in court for wildlife trafficking

NORTH WEST – Ben Khosietsile (54) and a 17 year old suspect appeared before the Atamelang Magistrates’ court on Tuesday, 20 March 2024 on charges of wildlife trafficking.

The accused were arrested by the Mahikeng based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team on Tuesday, 19 March 2024 following information received about the two suspects who were reported to be selling a pangolin at Setlagole. The information was operationalised and the team pounced on the suspects soon after the transaction was made

They are facing charges of Wildlife Trafficking for Contravention of the National Environmental Management Biodiversity Act 10 of 2004.

They appeared before Court and were released on a bail of R2000 – 00 each. They are expected to reappear before the same court on 23 April 2024.
