Media Statement MELODING – Police in Meloding seek public assistance in a case of murder. An 11-year-old girl was hacked to death with an axe in Stilte Park, Meloding on 16 March 2024 at about 16:00. Upon arrival by police at the scene in Meloding, the body of the young girl was found in pool of blood and covered with a blanket. A number of community members were present at the crime scene and the father of the deceased was interviewed who confirmed that Nthabiseng Motsoaosile (11) was his daughter. She was certified dead on the scene by Emergency Medical Services. The suspect was reportedly traced to his hideout where he was killed by angry members of the community in an apparent mob justice attack. He was also certified dead at the crime scene. Double murder cases are being investigated. Members of the community are sternly warned not to take the law into their own hands but to hand over people believed to be suspects to the police so that a thorough investigation can be conducted.
