Media Statement REDDERSBURG – Vigilance displayed by Reddersburg police members along with sterling partnership policing with community and neighbouring stations led to the swift arrest of wanted business burglary suspects. On 16 March 2024 at about 23:45, the manager of a retail store called Reddersburg police about an alarm that went off at his store in town. Members rushed to the scene and discovered that the suspects had fled the scene and nothing seemed to have been stolen. The complainant received another call on 17 March 2024 at about 04:10 about activity inside the store and he again swiftly informed the police. Reddersburg police members swiftly responded joined by Reddersburg neighbourhood patrollers and the neighbouring Eddenburg Police members. The business premises was surrounded and one suspect tried to flee through the roof but was swiftly arrested. The search continued for other suspects and one more was found hiding inside the ceiling. Preliminary investigation discovered explosives planted on the store’s safe and the SAPS explosives unit was summoned to the scene. Two suspects, aged 23 and 24, were arrested for business burglary and contravention of the Immigration Act. They will appear in the Reddersburg Magistrate’s Court soon. Ends
