UPINGTON – A conviction and sentencing of a murder accused, Benwill Pico (28) was handed down in the Regional Court of Keimoes on 6 March 2024. On 10 May 2022, the police in Keimoes attended to a murder scene at the dumping site where a male person was reported deceased with multiple stab wounds to his upper body. The deceased became known as Koos Sebolai (48) which was revealed upon investigation that he was allegedly stabbed by the accused after having an argument at the dumping site. The accused was arrested and was released on bail until the time of conviction when he was sentenced to 12 years direct imprisonment.
The investigating Officer, Sergeant Piet Eiman was commended for the excellent work by the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola who also welcomed the sentencing in this murder case.
