PARKWEG – Bloemfontein Flying Squad members stopped a truck and arrested 3 after the discovery of Khat plant in the cabin. On Friday 8 March 2024 at about 20:45 members of Bloemfontein Flying Squad received an intelligence led information about a Truck from Gauteng driving on the N1 towards Bloemfontein, possibly transporting drugs. The truck was intercepted at Verkeerdevlei Toll Plaza by the Flying Squad members and pulled over. The 59-year-old driver and two other passengers, were arrested after 14 boxes containing Khat plant worth an estimated value of R2.4 million was discovered in the cabin. The 59-year-old and his two passengers, aged 38 years were arrested. A 4-year-old that was travelling with them was taken to a place of safety.
The three suspects will appear in court on charges related to dealing and possession of narcotics.
