POLOKWANE – Tzaneen Police are seeking assistance of the community in tracing a male motorist driving a gold Polo Vivo who robbed a man after he offered him a lift at the hitchhiking spot on Friday morning, 08 March 2024, at about 11:00. Preliminary information revealed that the victim was picked up by the suspect at the hitchhiking spot area along the R71 towards Polokwane. When they reached Makgobaskloof, the driver turned to a secluded gravel road where he produced a firearm and robbed the victim of his belongings. The suspect blinded folded the victim and drove off, leaving him stranded. The victim was assisted by a passer-by. Police opened a case of robbery with a firearm on arrival at the scene. Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has once more cautioned all community members about the risks associated with hitchhiking unknown vehicles or picking up hitchhikers. Police are actively investigating this incident and are working tirelessly to apprehend the suspect.
